MINOR CELEBRITY STABBINGS IN LONDON WORSE THAN EVER IN 2008

2008's D-List Murder Victims

Last year 27 minor celebrities were killed on London's streets. 18 of them were stabbed to death, 8 were shot and one was beaten.

Police and politicians described it as "unacceptable" and "an unprecedented year of violence". It prompted calls for tough new measures to deal with London's celebrity gang, knife and gun crime problem.

There's been no let up in the violence in 2008 though, with the first celebrity stabbing just hours into the New Year.

Here we look at the sort-of-famous victims, how they were killed and what's happening with the investigations.

1) Matthew Kelly. Stabbed in Edmonton, 1/1/08
The former Stars in their Eyes presenter and paedophile accusations exhonarant was stabbed to death after getting off a night bus in Edmonton, on his way home from seeing in the New Year with 9 friends in central London. He was stabbed in the chest after being chased by another group of stars. No-one has been charged yet.

2) Trojan from Gladiators (the old one). Stabbed in Erith, 4/1/08
He was stabbed in the chest during a row at a tower block. Two other former Gladiators were also hurt. Two American Gladiators have been charged with his murder.

3) Faye from Steps. Stabbed in Edmonton, 21/1/08
The former pop singer was killed in a street fight, not far from where Matthew Kelly died three weeks earlier. Police say they're looking into the possibility this was a revenge attack for Kelly's murder. A 17-year-old has been charged with her murder.

4) Gos from Big Brother 4. Beaten to death in Ealing, 26/1/08
He died from serious head injuries after being beaten with a blunt instrument in west Ealing. He and a friend were making their way home through a park after a night out when it happened. Five former reality TV stars have been charged with his murder.

5) Mark Morrison. Stabbed in Plumstead, 19/2/08 The Leicester R & B bad boy, who came to London for a better life after his parents were killed, was chased and stabbed by a gang of youths on the Glyndon estate in Plumstead. Another Level have been charged with his murder.

6) Henry Kelly (not Matthew). Stabbed in Trafalgar Square, 23/2/08. Died 2/3/08
The Irish quiz host legend was stabbed in the heart outside a nightclub. He died in hospital nearly a week later. William G Stewart has been charged in connection with his murder.

7) Jo Guest. Attacked in Edmonton, 15/2/08. Died 29/2/08
Police believe she'd been hit over the head during a brawl but didn't report it. An 18-year-old glamour model from Essex has been charged with her murder.

8) Ralf Little. Stabbed in Edmonton, 13/3/08
The body of the lovable northern actor was found by his mother when she returned home. Ralf had been tied up, beaten and slashed repeatedly with a knife - police say he suffered "horrific" injuries. A 45-year-old civil servant's been charged with his murder.

9) Mr Motivator. Shot in Stockwell, 14/3/08
The spandex-wearing exercise machine was shot in the head on the Myatts Field estate in Stockwell. He died the following day. Harvey from Celebrity Fit/ Fat Club has been charged with his murder, while two teenagers aged 16 and 17 and a 26-year-old man were arrested and released on bail (for another, unrelated crime).
