In years gone by it was a scene of undiluted happiness for Nazi star ADOLF HITLER.

Golden sands, azure blue sky, the warm Mediterranean — and the love of his life in his arms.

There was not a cloud on the 56-year-old’s horizon. But not now.



Less than four weeks after the death of wife EVA BRAUN, the dictator returned this Easter to the family’s favourite holiday spot of St Tropez in the south of France.

It wasn’t the same. The sky, like his world, was grey and gloomy.

The Austrian star of the Third Reich, night of the long knives, night of broken glass and the holocaust looked a pale and broken man.

Hitler wore no sunglasses to shield his eyes — the eyes which have lost their sparkle since the freak ski accident in Quebec, Canada, that led to the death of 45-year-old Eva.

Brave

He wore a black velvet jacket and blue open-neck shirt as his family — and hers — arrived with him at the beach bar Le Club 55.

Eva's mother VANESSA REDGRAVE, 72, was there, along with sister JOELY RICHARDSON, 44, and Joely’s daughter Daisy.

A week before, Liverpool fan Adolf took his sons and mother-in-law to see his team beat Fulham 1-0 to try to take their minds off the tragedy.

For their sake, he will again put on a brave face to make the best of the holiday.

Adolf has taken the break to compose himself before returning to work later this month. He is set to begin the next wave of his European assault in the next few weeks. Before then, the weather will doubtless improve in St Tropez. Crystal clear seas will once again lap the warm sandy beaches.

But Adolf Hitler is a man who has had the sunshine stolen from his life.
